"Shadow and Mist"

“Friends”
Sculpted in clay and fired, this 17” horse is decorated with treasures from the ocean. Perched on a piece of driftwood, the tiny Blackbird accompanies his friend on his journey. Washes of soft colors all over his body of bone and turquoise create an antiqued finish. Embellished with raw, unpolished turquoise nuggets, his pendant is a tumbled rock from the sea.

"Spirit of Enchantment"
Magnificently splashed with color, the Appaloosa horse is an enduring symbol of the Southwest. Native Americans believed that theses horses were magical and, sending messages through their skin. Unusually marked horses were highly prized and displayed extraordinary powers.
Carrying a turquoise nugget, each Spirit Horse is marked with ancient symbols. The painted circle around his eye aids in vision. Lightning bolts are for speed, tiny dots and arrows indicate the winds of change. The spiral is life’s journey and the handprint signifies ownership and strength. Considered revered members of the tribe, they were honored as Spirit of Medicine horses.

"Milagro"
Turquoise crosses decorate a tapestry rug of sage green, rust, gold and black. Tiny Milagro charms embellish the saddle with hopes and prayers. Milagros are small metal religious charms found in many areas of Latin America, especially Mexico and Peru. The word “Milagro” means “miracle”. They are also used in Europe, where they are often referred to as Exvotos (Offerings). These small charms, often depicting arms, legs, praying people, farm animals and a wide range of other subjects are typically nailed or pinned to crosses or wooden statues of various saints like the Virgin Mary or Christ, sacred objects, pinned on the clothing of saint statues, or hung with little red ribbons or threads from altars and shrines. They are also carried for protection and good luck. “Milagro” is deep russet colored with dark brown hair. He is 17” tall and stands on a maple wood base. $350
